Person Centered Therapy
"Person-centered therapy, also known as Rogerian therapy or client-based therapy, employs a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions."
I utilize person-centered therapy because I believe that the client knows themselves best. Rather than "fixing" the client, I act as "compassionate facilitator, listening without judgment and acknowledging the client’s experience without shifting the conversation in another direction."
With grief, there is nothing to fix because the client is not broken. Rather, there is self discovery as the client learns to navigate this new way of living.
Person-Centered relies on three conditions:
- Unconditional positive regard. I accept your thoughts and feelings in such a way that you feel you are valued and safe to explore.
- Empathetic understanding. My complete acceptance of your thoughts and feelings can help reframe your beliefs about yourself and your experiences.
- Congruence / genuineness. I strive to be truly present and honestly myself with you.
If you are seeking a non-judgmental, discussion centered approach to counseling, I encourage you to contact me today. Together, we’ll walk through the ups and downs of life.
